According to the latest data from Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard, the number of immigration crossing points entering Greece in 2020 has fallen by 76% compared to 2019.
By 2020, a total of 19,681 migrants have crossed Evros from Turkey into the Greek Aegean Islands and the land border.
Frontex said the number of illegal border crossings found along the EU’s external border dropped by 13% last year to approximately 124,000.
This is the least illegal border crossing since 2013. According to Frontex, this decline was mainly due to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions imposed by various countries.
