In less than a month, the Sagres Birdwatching Festival, which attracts bird and wildlife lovers from all across Portugal and the world, will take place.
The festival, which will take place between October 1 and 5, will feature around 150 activities aimed at highlighting the "show that is the migration of birds and the splendor of the Western Algarve.
"Thousands of birds soar over the Algarve in October on their route to wintering grounds in Africa, putting on a spectacular show. Hundreds of seabirds, such as gannets and shearwaters, fly by the coast, while vultures, eagles, and storks soar overhead, looking for a way to Africa. Trees and shrubs provide welcome resting spots for little songbi on land'' organisers say. Enjoyed this post? Never miss out on future posts by following us.
The range of activities is diverse, ranging from bird ringing to dolphin watching. Visits to local grottos, maritime bird viewing, workshops, astronomical events, walks, and much more are all planned.

Many of the events are free, but they must all be reserved in advance. Many of the events are already sold out, so organisers are recommending people to sign up ASAP.
“After registering for their preferred activities online, participants simply need to travel to Sagres, pick up their bracelet, and enjoy everything the Festival has to offer,” they explain.
The recognizable Black Stork is this year's poster-bird, which is a "regular at the festival."
The Black Stork is frequently spotted swooping high overhead, according to the organizers.
Vila do Bispo Council, the Portuguese Society of Bird Studies (SPEA), and environmental organization Almargem are putting up the festival.
