Belgium: Brussels imposes harsher Covid-19 restrictions

Due to the concerning epidemiological situation in the Brussels – Capital Region, Belgian authorities have declared that travelers from red zones would face harsher entry restrictions.

According to a press release issued by the Brussels Capital Common Community Commission, beginning September 17, all people who have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 disease or who have not recovered from the virus will be required to follow a mandatory ten-day quarantine requirement and will be tested for COVID-19 on the first day.

All people returning or traveling from a red zone within the European Union/Schengen Area, as well as those coming from a red zone on the White List, which includes third nations, will be required to comply with the requirement.

Despite the fact that travelers must remain self-isolated for 10 days, the quarantine period might be cut short if a negative COVID-19 test result is submitted on the seventh day.

“People who have not been vaccinated or who do not have a certificate of recovery, who will reside in Brussels on their arrival in Belgium, from September 17, 2021, will have to respect a 10-day quarantine,” according to a statement from Brussels' Common Community Commission.

In addition to the aforementioned steps, incoming travelers and those returning to Brussels are required to fill out the Passenger Locator Form.
