Malta allows Australia's COVID-19 vaccine passports

The Maltese government has declared that Australia's COVID-19 Digital Certificate has been recognized in the nation from August 13.

As a result, vaccination certificates provided by Australian authorities are now regarded acceptable proof of immunity against the COVID-19 illness.

A vaccination certificate, however, is only valid if the bearer has completed the vaccination procedure using one of the vaccines approved for use by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) - Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.

Furthermore, the authorities have said that simply providing a negative PCR test result is no longer sufficient for entry into Malta. All those above the age of 12 are only permitted to visit Malta if they can show proof of full immunization against the virus.

“It is no longer possible to go to Malta with only a negative PCR test result. Guests aged 12 and up can only travel to Malta if they have a vaccination certificate confirming that the full dosage of an EMA-approved vaccine was received and issued at least 14 days after the final dose of the vaccine was administered, according to a statement released by Malta International Airport.

As a result, the following certifications will not be accepted for travel to Malta:

Certificates indicating recovery from the COVID-19

Cards showing vaccination appointment

Vaccination certificates that indicate that the holder has only received a single vaccine dose (excluding Johnson & Johnson); this also applies to those who have recovered from the COVID-19

Vaccination certificates indicating that the holder took the final dose less than 14 days ago

Vaccination certificate indicating that the holder has been immunised with a vaccine other than the one approved by EMA

Apart from the vaccination certificates produced in Australia, the Maltese authorities have declared that they will accept all of the certifications mentioned below:

EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate, including the ones issued in Switzerland, San Marino, and Vatican City State

Albanian Digital COVID Certificate

Doha, Qatar Ministry of Public Health COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate

Dubai Health Authority Vaccination Certificate; must contain a readable QR code

Gibraltar, Jersey, and Guernsey Vaccination Certificates

Serbian Green Certificate; must contain a readable QR code

Turkish Vaccination Certificate; must contain a readable QR code

United States CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card with an EMA-approved vaccine

Vaccination Certificates of United Kingdom

Aside from the vaccination certificate requirement, all visitors to Malta will be required to fill out a Passenger Locator Form from yesterday, August 16. The Maltese authorities made this move in order to make it simpler to track those who enter the nation in case they contract the sickness while traveling.
