Italy: Whole country is a Covid-19 white zone

 

On Friday, Health Minister Roberto Speranza signed an order that will take effect on Monday, declaring all of Italy, except the Val d'Aosta, a low-COVID risk white zone.

 

Along with the other areas, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Marche, Tuscany, Sicily, and the autonomous province of Bolzano will become white.

According to the health ministry, there have been 1,147 new cases of COVID-19 throughout Italy in the previous 24 hours, with 35 additional victims.

 

On Thursday, there were 1,325 new cases and 37 additional victims. A total of 216,026 tests have been completed on Friday, compared to 200,315 on Thursday.

The percentage of positive has dropped from 0.7 percent to 0.5 percent.

 


Intensive care cases have decreased by 28, while hospital admissions have decreased by 208.

COVID-19 patients account for 6% of Italy's intensive-care beds, with the number of coronavirus patients in ICUs dropping from 688 on June 8 to 504 on June 15.

 

No area has surpassed the crucial level of 30%.

At the national level, the proportion of regular hospital ward beds occupied by COVID patients is likewise 6%, with the number falling from 4,685 on June 8 to 3,333 on June 15.

 

Except for Basilicata, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Molise, wh
ich are deemed intermediate risk, all of Italy's regions and autonomous provinces are now low risk for COVID-19.

 


According to ISS President Silvio Brusaferro, the infection rate is currently among the lowest in the EU, with no cases reported in numerous towns and cities.
