The European Commission and BioNTech-Pfizer have reached an agreement on the accelerated delivery of 10 million doses in the second quarter.
President of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen said: ''I know that the second quarter is critical to promoting our vaccination strategy in Member States. These accelerated 10 million doses will increase the total dose of BioNTech-Pfizer to more than 2 in the second quarter. 100 million doses.This is great news. It provides member states with room for maneuver and may fill the gap in delivery."
These doses will be obtained from the 100 million doses selected in the second BioNTech-Pfizer contract, which is expected to be in the third and fourth quarters of 2021.
