Portugal: Algarve will host two races of Portuguese Speed Championship

Algarve International Circuit (AIA) announced that it will host the first and final stages of the new-looking Portuguese Speed Championship (Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade). The organizers described it as "the pinnacle of Portuguese speed racing" and the event will be designed as "spectacular and competitive."

There will be three races in each stage-two 20-minute Sprint races and a 45-minute Endurance race, which will be open to GT Cup, GT Light and Touring Cup vehicles.

According to the provisional calendar, three of the four stages of the championship will be held concurrently with major international racing competitions to increase the prestige of the competition. The first stage will be held in Portimão from April 23rd to 25th.

The first stage will be held simultaneously with the first round of the GT Open. The second stage will be held in Vila Real in June. Vila Real will also host the WTCR competition in Portugal. The third stage will be held in Estoril in July, and the final step will be held in the Algarve in October along with the European Le Mans Series.

The event is jointly organized by the Portuguese Motorsports and Karting Federation (FPAK) and the sports channel Sports TV, which will be broadcast in the first two stages.
