France will offer COVID vaccinations to people over 65

 

Prime Minister Jean Castex said that two-thirds of people over 75 should be vaccinated by April. 

 

People between 65 and 74 without serious illness are not yet eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine in France. 

 

French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced tonight (February 25) that France’s goal is to start vaccinating people between the ages of 65 and 74 by early April. 

 

People of this age group are not currently in the vaccination campaign in France, because they are not within the age range of France and can be vaccinated with AstraZeneca vaccine, Pfizer BioNTech vaccine or Moderna vaccine. 

The French health authority (Haute Autorité de Santé, HAS) approved AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine in early February, but recommends that the vaccine is currently only available to people under the age of 65 and professionals in the health and nursing industries. Data on efficacy in the elderly are lacking.
