The German Vaccine Board said in a draft recommendation that AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine should only be provided to people between 18 and 64 years old, one day before European regulators decide whether to approve the drug manufacturer’s injection.
The committee said in a draft resolution provided by the German Ministry of Health on Thursday: "There is currently not enough data to evaluate the efficacy of vaccines over 65."
It added: "Unlike mRNA vaccines, AstraZeneca vaccines should only be provided to people aged 18-64 at each stage." Stiko's assessment is based on the same trial data published in the medical journal The Lancet on December 8.
