The CivilProtection Department said on Monday that Italy had registered 303
new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. That's less than 338 new
cases on Sunday.
The
department said 259 new Monday cases, 85.5% of all, were in Lombardy,
the region most affected by the disaster.
Eight
regions, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Abruzzo, Umbria, Sardinia, Aosta
Valley, Calabria, Molise, Basilicata and the province of Bolzano, did
not register any new cases on Monday. The department said 26
coronavirus sufferers had died in Italy in the last 24 hours. This is
less than 67 deaths on Sunday and it is the lowest daily number of
fatalities since February 28, when there were 21.
The total
number of registered deaths for COVID-19 is now 34,371. The number of
people who managed to recover from COVID-19 increased by 640 in the
last 24 hours, to a total of 177 010.
On Sunday,
the number of people recovered increased by 1505. The department said
on Monday that 25,909 people are currently positive for coronavirus,
a decrease of 365 in one day.
The total number of cases in Italy,
including positive, deceased and recovered cases is currently
237.290.
